- Jonas was selected to be the next receiver of memory
- At the ceremony of 12 after everyone was done clapping the last assignment was given out. “The Chief Elder waited until the uneasy applause subsided.Then spoke again." Page 74

- The chief elder skipped Jonas because she wanted to wait so everyone could know how important it is.

- Jonas walked up to the stage and Chief Elder gave him his assignment.

- Jonas didn't understand and the Chief Elder started to talk about how difficult it was to find a Receiver of Memory and how long they were looking for one.
- The Chief Elder talks about all the qualities Jonas needs to have.
- The audience clapped again. Jonas started to understand it a little more and didn't think it was a good idea. Jonas is the right chose for the Receiver of Memory.
