  • Titanic Sinks (1912)
  • WW1 (1914-1918)
  • Wall Street Crash (1930)
  • Everyone thought the boat was unsinkable, so they were too arrogant and thoughtless, therefore they didn't add enough lifeboats because it would ruin the image of the boat.
  • WW2 (1939-1945)
  • They didn't think that war was going to happen, they thought it was just the Germans scaring them. But it caused mass destruction to the world!
  • Priestley wrote 'An inspector Calls' (1945)
  • The upper class wanted the money for themselves and the working class made all their money for them, while not getting paid enough.
  • Plays first performance (1946)
  • During WW2 class system was destroyed (children evacuated, armed forces worked together and there was a Moral workface) Priestley worked as a moral booster on broadcasts on the radio.
  • He wanted to show the world how stuck up and arrogant the upper class were. He wanted change and to have abetter life for everyone after the war!
  • He based it in 1912 because it was a contrast of life in 1945. Preistley's play was deemed to be controversial because he wanted to show how much had changed since 1912.
