In 1789 the "National Assembly" pledged to the Tennis Court Oath which is vowed to not leave a tennis court until a new constitution.
The first reign of terror occurred in 1793 in which about 1,400 people were executed.
Napoleon conquered much of Europe and rose during the French Revolution. After he seized France he than crowned himself emperor.
Post Revolution, France continued on under a 15 year period of military rule.
