Storyboard Text

  • French citizens don't seem satisfied with their political system. I really need to convince them that the American model is the best way to govern their country.
  • Dear Condorcet, what do you think about changing your political system ?
  • Well... you know, I agree with you... We cross a complicated and animated phase. To restore the order and the equality would be the best of things. But what can we do ? We don't have any power !
  • Of course it is ! you have the power of weapons !!
  • There will be no consequences. Action speaks louder than words. Nobody will hear you if you don't act. Moreover, I've another request. I know we have the same opinion and that's why we have to unify to get stronger. Please, pretty please !! I beg you...
  • No, no... I'm going to lead a struggle, but all of this in peace.
  • The scene takes place in 1792 and Thomas Paine was all ready in Paris.
  • I agree with you, don't worry you're not alone. Furthermore, I know lots about politicians. First, I believe you need to go and speak with Robespierre, he has a wide influence on the society. After that, go to visit Mirabeau, he is committed in revolution. If you want, I can advise you Olympe de Gouges . But be careful : it is THE woman that you have to convince. She is in favor of women's voting rights, and stands against monarchy but she is firm in her ideas and doesn't want taking up arms, she is opposed to the Terreur.
  • He decided to visit Condorcet, a philosopher involved in politics.
  • Thomas Paine asked Condorcet to help him to write a speech for the French Assembly. He knew he had strong arguments, oraganized ideas...
  • My friend, Why do you adopted a constitution inspired by the American model ! In America The patriots would like to gain civil rights and freedom from the tyranny that exists in Great Britain. The king abused his power and refused to makes laws that benefited people. Then we took weapons! We fought for our rights, for our values and for our liberties !
  • You are right Thomas, With is the goal for which we strive We must struggled for the liberty and equality and against the rule of that eternal justice whose laws are engraved ! Furthermore, kings are drafts and traitors which run away to save their own skins but they forget their country !! Let us declare the war, let us take weapons, let us change this world !!!
  • Finally, Condorcet has the same opinion as Paine. He decided to help him and advised him to meet people.
  • Thomas Paine wanted now to find Robespierre.
  • They debated about political projects. Robespierre is convinced and supports thomas's ideas.
