  • Scene 1
  • Where the place?
  • Fair is foul, and foul is fair; hover through the fog and filthy air.
  • There to meet with Macbeth.
  • Upon the heath.
  • Scene 2
  • What bloody man is that?
  • This is the sergeant who fought against my captivity.
  • God save the king!
  • For brave Macbeth, disdaining fortune, with his brandished steel, like valour's minion carved out his passage.
  • Scene 3
  • All hail Macbeth, that shalt be king hereafter!
  • All hail Macbeth, Thane of Glamis!
  • All hail Macbeth, Thane of Cawdor!
  • Stay you imperfect speakers, tell me more.
  • Three witches immediately predict that a battle will occur between themselves and Macbeth. They will meet him after the battle is over.
  • Scene 4
  • Duncan, King of Scotland, meets a wounded captain. The captain reports that Macbeth has defeated the rebellion of Highlanders and Islanders, led by Macdonwald. Duncan rewards Macbeth and announces him as the new Thane of Cawdor.
  • Scene 5
  • The witches were awaiting the arrival of Macbeth and then he and Banquo come to report to Duncan at Forres. Each of the witches greet Macbeth as a king, which made him confused. He then knows he is now Thane of Cawdor.
  • Scene 6 + 7
  • Duncan thanks Macbeth for his victories and says that its his duty. Duncan names Malcolm as his successor and invites himself to Macbeth's castle.
  • Is execution done on Cawdor?
  • The service and loyalty I owe, in doing it pays itself.Your part is just to receive our duties.
  • Lady Macbeth reads a letter from her husband, telling of the witches' prophecy. She wants to carry out the murder of Duncan by calling the evil spirits. She tells her husband to leave everything on her.
  • Duncan comes here tonight.
  • O never, shall sun that morrow see .
  • The king arrives and is greeted warmly by L. Macbeth. Duncan is full of compliments for them. (scene 6) Macbeth changed his mind of murder going ahead. His wife is very scornful towards him, but she tells him her plan. He is now determined to carry out the murder.
  • Where's the Thane of Cawdor?
  • Your subjects are always ready to give you your due.
