  • inside Macbeth's castle, the king relies on two murderers to kill Banquo and his son Fleance 
  • And with him To leave no rubs nor botches in the work Fleance, his son, that keeps him company, Whose absence is no less material to me Than is his father’s
  • we are resolved, my lord
  • Macbeth talks to his wife about his unhappiness after killing Duncan and about his worries towards the safety of the throne
  • Oh, full of scorpions is my mind, dear wife! Thou know’st that Banquo, and his Fleance, lives.
  • the two murderers, joined by a third, attack Fleance and Banquo, Killing the latter
  • O treachery! Fly, good Fleance, fly, fly, fly! Thou may ’st Revenge, O slave!
  • in the dark and the confusion, Fleance manages to escape
  • There’s but one down. The son is fled.
  • During the dinner with the lords, Macbeth starts to hallucinate Banquo's ghost and loses control. Lady Macbeth tries to calm him
  • Which one of you did this?  You can’t say I did it. Don’t shake your bloody head at me
  • As Macbeth is out of control, Lady Macbeth asks the lords to leave since his husband is beginning to spoil the truth about the murder.
  • I pray you, speak not. He grows worse and worse. Question enrages him. At once, good night. Stand not upon the order of your going, But go at once.
