Engel v. Vitale (1962)
Summary of Engel v. Vitale (1962)
THIS IS UNCONSTITUTIONAL !!!!!
The Engel v. Vitale was the probitition of having a group prayer in public schools and the court case was passed in the year of 1962
This court case was passed by the supreme court and it says that it is unconstitutional for state officials to compose school prayer and encourage its recitation in public schools. This court case was led by an angry group of families of public schools in New Hyde Park in New York who complained that the voluntary prayer written by the state board of regents to "Almighty God" contradicted their religious beliefs.
The significant of the Engel v. Vital court case was that it deprived our US Government to enforce a certain religion on certain people or public schools because it may have offended other people's beliefs and the way they think as well.
