  • The religion or ideas influenced the development of classical India.
  • The second empire Chandra Gupta had no relation to India's first empire Chandragupta Mauryan. He became empire through marriage. While emperor he  lead to the flowering of the Hindu culture and was called the great king. His son Samudra gupta became king after.
  • Daily life during the Mauryan and Gupta dynasty for the common Indians. They had a patriarchal society. Most Indians lived in small villages. The majority of people were farmers but they also had merchants and craftspeople. There was tax on water because of the drought. Gupta was called the golden era because they discovered astronomy. They developed modern numbers, the zero, calculated the value of pi to 4 decimals.
  • Ashoka, Buddhism, and Rock edits  Ashoka is a emperor during the mauryan dynasty. Ashoka created the Rock edits which were pillars  with the rules and teachings of Buddhism to show all the people. The fonder of Buddhism was Siddhartha Guatama who converted from Hinduism when he saw all the suffering of the people. Buddhism believed that to end suffering you had to eliminate your desires and that you can acheive peace through Nirvana. During Ashoka's rein there were not caste systems because Buddhism didn't believe in caste systems so they didn't have any caste systems. A lot of lower caste people converted to Buddhism.
  • Hinduism and the caste system Hinduism is a polytheistic religion meaning they have more than one god. They believe that all humans have a soul and that all souls make up one universal spirit called the Brahman. There goal is to have union with the Brahman. They believe in Karma and that how a person lives there life affects there Karma. They believe in Samsara or the rebirth after they die. Moksha is the idea that souls pass through many life times until they have spiritual liberation. Hinduism has a caste system that your born into and the only way they can move up is if they fulfill there karma then you will be reborn higher up or into a better spirit or soul. Hinduism had a lot of rules and laws to follow also a strict unjust caste system which led people to convert to Buddhism.
  • The religion and the concepts that make up the religion effected classical India the most. The reason it is religion and ideas is because without the ideas for the religions we wouldn't have people following them. Without the strict rules and unjust caste system in Hinduism there never would of been the start to Buddhism. So that is why it was the religion and its ideas that led to classical India.
