  • James Madison was elected as the 4th president of the united states. He went to congress to declare war on the British for attacking our ships.
  • Great Lakes and The Battle of Thames
  • I see the British Ships!!
  • The Native Americans rebeled against the united states and became allies with the British. Their leader was named Tecumseh. They supplied them with British guns to fight against the U.S.
  • Fort Henry and Francis Scott Key
  • The united states stayed neutral through out the war between the British and French. We kept trading with both countries, so the British started to seize American ships and kidnapped their sailors. Many wanted war after that.
  • Andrew Jackson and the Battle of New Orleans (Industrial Revolution)
  • The battle of the Great Lakes was one of the biggest naval battles in the battle of 1812. Under the command of Oliver Hazard Perry they got a full surrender from the British. The battle of lake Erie led to the Battle of Thames. British and their allies the Natives were going to attack American Infantry. This led to the supposed death of the leader of the Native rebellion by William Henry Harrison.
  • Fort Henry was rained upon by mortars. The bombs were crashing upon the fort, but it didn't fall. Francis Scott Key was looking a the fire raining from the sky onto the fort. That sight gave him inspiration to write the Star Spangled Banner.
  • Andrew Jackson was very popular because of his tittle of war hero. He led the battle of New Orleans and killed 2,000 British troops while only losing 71. The War of 1812 helped shape the way we live now because we couldn't rely on the other countries manufactured goods we had to make our own which caused the Industrial Revolution.
