Scene 1 Marcellus, Barnardo, and Horatio see the ghost of Hamlet's father while out guarding.
Scene 2 Gertrude and Cladius talk to Hamlet about his father while he is mourning him.
Scene 2 Horatio and Marcellus tell Hamlet that they saw a ghost that looked like his father.
"In the dead waste and middle of the night, Been thus encountered: a figure like your father"
Scene 3 Polonius and Laertes tell Ophellia that Hamlet may not really love her. She tries to tell them that he has affection for her.
"You believe his "tenders", as you call them?"
Scene 4 Hamlet, Marcellus, and Horatio see the ghost. Hamlet wants to follow the ghost but his friends try to get him to stay.
"Do not, my lord."
"It will not speak. Then I will follow it."
Scene 5 Hamlet goes anyways. The ghost tells him he is his father and that he was murdered. Hamlet says he will get revenge.
