Victor is devoting his life to trying to create a living being. He works day and night to try to find out how. "One of the phenomena which had peculiarly attracted my attention was the structure of the human frame, and, indeed, any animal endued with life."
Victor finally brings his creation to life. His creation is an eight foot monster, which he is disgusted by but he is also excited. "How can I describe my emotions at this catastrophe, or how delineate the wretch whom with such infinite pains and care I had endeavoured to form? His limbs were in proportion, and I had selected his features as beautiful. Beautiful!"
After bringing the monster to life, he leaves the apartment. He wanders through the streets of Ingolstadt, thinking about his creature.
While he is wandering, Henry Clerval finds him in poor condition. Henry came to see his friend and to enroll at the university.
Henry and Victor go back to the apartment where they see that the monster is now one. Victor is happy that the monster is gone and falls down from exhaustion.
Henry helps Victor to get back to full health throughout the winter and spring. He then advises him to to write home to his family.
