How to solve an Inequality
This storyboard does not have a description.
Hi Mrs. Glen. I had a question on how to solve an inequality. I don't quite understand exactly how to.
Sure, I would love to help and show you the steps on solving an inequality.
Now that we have set up and solved the equation, we are ready to check our answer.
How to set up and solve an inequality using addition. Example Problem: a-42>-64 1st: a-42>-64 2nd: a-42>-64 a+42>+42 3rd: a>-22
Lets look at the board and discuss how to set up and solve an inequality.
How to check an inequality using addition. Continued Example Problem: a>-22 1st: a=-20 2nd:(-20)-42>-64 3rd: -62>-64 4th: T or F? -62>-64
The goal when trying to solve an inequality is to get the variable by itself.
Here are the steps on how to set up and solve an inequality using addition: 1st: Rewrite the equation 2nd: Isolate the variable by adding 42 to -42 and -64 3rd: After adding -42 to both sides, your solution should now be a>-22
Steps to checking an inequality using Addition: 1st: Choose a number that is larger than -22 2nd: Substitute that number in for "a" and solve 3rd: Ask yourself if -62 is greater than -64 4th: If it's true, then therefore we can conclude that a>-22 is the solution to this inequality
