Darry vs. Ponyboy
Ponyboy and Johnny's relationship has always been good. Their friendship does not change thoughout the book, however, when Johnny dies Ponyboy becomes very sad. All of a sudden, Ponyboy goes from having a best friend to no best friend. Johnny's death messes with Pony's emotions making him in denial and do some bad things.
Ponyboy is challenged because he wants to hangout with Cherry but he can't because Cherry is a Soc. Greasers and Socs can't hangout because the 2 groups don't like each other. Ponyboy's relationship with Cherry changes his opinion about the Socs'. He realizes that Soc's aren't that different from Greasers. Ponyboy realizes that everyone has problems and it doesn't matter if she is Soc and he is a Greaser.
Ponyboy just wants Darry to be his brother but with his parents dead, and Darry being the oldest, he becomes the dad. They get in fights because he Darry tries to control Ponyboy and he does not act like a brother. Darry wants the best for Ponyboy so he is harder on him causing Ponyboy to not really like Darry. By the end Ponyboy realizes that Darry actually does love him and is trying his best.
