Social Darwinism was the application of natural selection and evolution to politics and business. This was used typically in the late 19th century and early 20th century. Social Darwinism was applied by society in the form of that if you were wealthy, you deserved to be wealthy, and if you were poor, you deserved to be poor.
The Gospel of Wealth was the philosophical view that the wealthy should redistribute their wealth to overcome the growing wealth inequality. This idea was made popular by Andrew Carnegie. This made the donations to charities higher, and influenced society by the change in the wealth distribution, as the lower classes were getting significant moneys from the wealthy in the form of donations.
