Hi, it's me again. Just to clear a few things up. When the 3 branches were proposed, the delegates came up with a system of checks and balances. This prevents any single branch from becoming too powerful. Each branch can limit the power of the others.
Excuse me for moving around, my legs are falling asleep. Now where was I...oh yes, the separation of powers. The Constitution lays out a separation of powers among 3 branches that have already been talked about. This is so that things are more efficient and can be done easier.
This whole idea of the Constitution and the powers of the national government comes from the idea of popular sovereignty. This is where the power comes from the people as opposed to a direct democracy. There is a representative system with elected officers by the people. Now enough talking, lets get back.
