  • Henery II
  • On Christmas Day 1066, William to the crown of England after defeating another person who also wanted power at the Battle of Hastings. he had the Domesday census taken to learn about his kingdom. This helped William and future kings build a successful system of collecting taxes, which would help them build up their kingdom.

  • William created the Domesday Book. it was a census that counted all of the people and property of England. William used it to collect taxes accurately and efficiently to help the kingdom of England grow.
  • Magna Carta (Great Charter)
  • Henry ii expanded the royal justice system and made the basis for England's legal system. Henry ii also established common law under all of England and made a jury system for everyone to be under.
  • Edward I
  • In 1205 john had lost a war with Philip and had to give up land. In 1215 a group of rebels had forced John to sign the Magna Carta that was published to him under his ruling.

  • The Magna Carta ( Great Charter) are a series of articles which a government has to follow by that contains individual liberties for every citizen of a kingdom and it forces the people in power to follow the law. The Magna Carta still influence governments around the world till this day.

  • During Edward I 's ruling of England he established the England's parliament was able to pass and approve new tax laws. The parliament made the king fulfill the parliaments orders before voting new tax laws and stuff. (This helped with limiting the kings power during its ruling).
