After my great-grandfather had waited for a year, his fiancee Jean and her friend Agnes arrived in Montreal. My great-grandfather was delighted to see them.
Later that year, Jean and John married and became Jean and John Bowman. They and Agnes moved into a one bedroom apartment in working-class Verdun where they would raise four kids.
Honey, you can't keep losing your jobs we have bills to pay
They faced many struggles as John lost a few jobs from challenging and talking back to his employers, Agnes wasn't paying rent and they had four kids to feed.
It's not my fault all my bosses treat me and my co-workers unfairly! Grrrr....
The Bowmans went on to raise a very successful family. The eldest son became the winningest coach in all of pro sports history, the eldest daughter became the first in the family to go to university The other two sons went on to be successful - as a teacher and an accountant and then NHL hockey scout. I am proud to call myself a fourth-generation Canadian in the Bowman-Ford family (my mother married a Ford whose parents emigrated to Canada from England).
