  • Grace was a very curious child and she wanted to know how an alarm clock worked, so she took seven apart but when her mom found out she took six of them away but let her keep one. 
  • Grace and Mark 2
  • Grace applied to Vassar College for early admission when she was 16 but got denied. She didn't give up and got accepted the next year and studied math and science. She then got her masters at Yale. 
  • Grace and COBOL
  • The US army gathered many people to program their first computer called the mark 1 and it  took up a whole room and it was pretty much a big calculator.
  • Grace retires
  • while working on the Mark 2, the computer suddenly stopped working because the circuit was interrupted by a moth that was stuck in the machine so they had to "debug" it. 
  • COBOL( COmmon Buisness Oriented Language) was used by many entrepreneurs and it was created by Grace Hopper and many other programmers.   
  • Grace Hopper retired for a final time in 1986 at 79 years of age and she was inducted to the Women's Hall of Fame, had a computer named after her, and a yearly convention also named after herself. She then died in 1992 at 85 years of age.
