"Yes sir, I'm on my way."
"Go to Boston and disarm the colonists and arrest the leaders."
"Seize their artillery and ammunition!!!"
"They won't find our guns in there!!"
General Thomas Gage was sent to Boston to disarm the colonists and arrest the leaders of the rebellion. The rebellion leaders were John Hancock and Samuel Adams.
General Gage sent 700 troops to march to Concord to seize and destroy their artillery and ammunition.
The colonists however knew that the British were coming to take their guns so they moved most of them to a classified location before the arrival of the Redcoats.
The beginning of The American Revolution.
They knew that the British were coming to take their weapons because Dawes rapidly rode to Concord to warn Hancock and Adams. Revere rode through the countryside shouting "The Regulars are Coming" or "The Regulars are Out."
When the British appeared someone fired a shot that is known as "The Shot Heard Round' the World." A gun battle erupted as the two sides began running at each other.
By the time the British had finally mad it back to Boston, 73 were killed and 174 were wounded. The American Revolution had officially began.
