Storyboard Text

  • This is not necessarily in the book, but I am considering this the first scene in which Mr. Bingley is in his home pacing around wondering what is missing in his life. Meanwhile, in the background the narrator is reading the opening lines of the story "...a single man in possession of a good fortune, much be in want of a wife" (3).
  • This scene can either be Mr. Bingley pacing around his house, or sitting at a table with his eyebrows furrowed because he can't figure out what is missing from his life, either way he is confused up until he decides what he needs.
  • I need a wife!
  • The narrator is continuing to read the the story while the Bennet family is shown on screen, Mr. and Mrs. Bennet are sitting, possibly talking or Mr. Bennet is reading something while Mrs. B is trying to get his attention. Lizzy is the brunette, Jane is the blonde, and the rest of the Bennet sisters are irrelevant at this time so they don't need to be in color (basically background characters at this point.
  • Mr. and Mrs. Bennet are sitting at the table, Mr. B is supposed to pay little attention to his wife, when Mrs. B exclaims that she has some very exciting news for Mr. B to hear. She then tells him that Netherfield has been "taken by a young man of large fortune" (3).
  • "Have you heard that Netherfield is let at last?"
  • Mr. B is very uninterested in this conversation, and shows it on his face. Mrs. B is very excited and giddy while telling her husband the "good news"
  • Mrs. B's facial expression is supposed to be showing that she is annoyed with her husband for not understand why this is important while Mr. B's facial expression is confused and aggravated because his wife is annoying him.
  • Mr. B asks Mrs. B why this should matter to him to which Mrs. B responds: "how can you be so tiresome! You must know that I am thinking of his marrying one of them" (3), implying that this should be important to both of them because this is a potential suitor for one of their five daughters.
  • Mrs. B should have exaggerated hand motions while talking to Mr. B because she is frustrated that he doesn't understand why it is important that a young bachelor has just moved into the neighborhood. Mr. B is still confused and unfazed by his wife's actions.
  • Mr. B asks Mrs. B if the reason that the young man came to Netherfield was because he was looking for a life. Mrs. B says that that is not what he intending, but he could so happen to fall in love with one of their five, single daughters.
  • Mrs. B tells Mr. B that he must go visit Mr. Bingley as soon as possible and invite him over so that he can meet their daughters. This is the point where Mr. B actually pays attention because it involves him actually having to move around and do something. He voices that he doesn't understand why this is necessary but says that he will. We are then going to hear Mr. B's thoughts and hear him say that he will go but he won't tell Mrs. B just so that he can rattle her feathers.
  • Mrs. B should be begging him to go visit, acting very nice towards Mr. B so that he will go and do it. Mr. B is going to be not paying attention up until now, so once she mentions that he has to do something he should pipe up and look more confused/ aggravated with his wife, but towards the end when we hear his thoughts he should have a side smirk because he is going to play a trick on his wife.
