  • Growing up as a shy and somewhat introverted individual it was difficult for me to make friends in school. Coming from a private school where we were forced to wear uniforms, I wasn't quite able to grasp the concept of piecing an outfit together.
  • Getting Noticed
  • I was often times teased for a lot of the things I wore because the other children in my classes had already started wearing name brands and I was still being dressed by my mother. I never understood why people made preconceived notions about me before getting to know me. If the few friends I did have never seemed to care what I was wearing, why did others?
  • Establishing New Friendships
  • His style is amazing.
  • He's so fine!
  • Weary from being teased at school, I started focusing more on myself as an individual. I began to see things differently and my perspective on style began to change. I spent the majority of my free time keeping up with celebrities who highly influenced my style. I also was more up to date and well aware of some of the latest trends. Within those trends, I set out to buy a whole new wardrobe.
  • The Realization
  • *Realizing things*
  • As I gained more confidence in myself, I started experimenting with bright colors, bold prints and different haircuts which seemed to attract more people to me.
  • Thanks!
  • Nice haircut!
  • Your outfit is so freaking cute!
  • I later discovered that I had a passion for fashion and style. With my new discovery, I made a vow to go the entire school year without wearing the same outfit twice. Not only did I accomplish that but I also began to inspire others with my style. I got compliments daily and people often times admired how I wasn't afraid to take risk with my appearance. During that same year, I was not only able to express myself through my clothing but I also established lots of new friendships.
  • *Inspirational speaking*
  • Since then I started to realize the importance of having your own personal style. It's kind of like your own way of introducing yourself without even speaking. I learned that your style is an expression of who you are as an individual. It also gives others a clear representation of your interest. As I grew more as an individual, I started to see why people prejudged me in my past. Your appearance is everything. Its how people perceive you.
