  • I'm Gage Hill and although I lived through the Great Depression, I did not struggle as badly as most did.
  • As a person who stayed wealthy during the Great Depression, I found ways to help out the people who didn't have much.
  • I started multiple soup kitchens close to where I live for the people who needed help. I was one of the few who didn't have to worry about putting food on the table.
  • Gage's soup kitchen
  • My soup kitchens were very popular. I fed a lot of very grateful people everyday.
  • Gage's soup kitchen
  • I met many interesting people. I loved hearing all of their stories. People from all different walks of life came to my soup kitchens and told me how much help the soup kitchens were to them and their family.
  • Gage's soup kitchen
  • At the end of the day, I could go home feeling like I did something good. I went out of my way to go to one of my soup kitchens everyday and talk with the people there. It gave me great joy knowing that I was making a difference
