This storyboard does not have a description.
"He acts like an animal, has an animal's habits! Eats like one, moves like one, talks like one! There's even something-- sub-human --something not quite to the stage of humanity yet! Yes, something--ape-like about him, like one of those pictures I've seen in--anthropological studies!"
You see, under the Napoleonic code – a man has to take an interest in his wife’s affairs – especially now that she’s going to have a baby. [Blanche opens her eyes. The "blue piano" sounds louder.]
Stella? Stella going to have a baby? I didn’t know she was going to have a baby!
This is one of the first times we get to see the dynamic of Stella and Stanleys house and Stanley immediately esablishes napoleonic code to insure his male dominance. He wants Blanche who just met him to understand that he is the pack leader in the house
Stanley! Where are you going?
Can I come watch?
Even though this could be considered a scene of affection between Stanley and Stella it also shows how Stella has to ask fpr permission to go with Stanley showing that he holds the power in the relationship. This also becomes a norm in their relationship especially when Stanley has his poker nights.
By using the relationship of Stella and Stanley to show that the society was male dominated. Using there relationship to show that there was a patriarchal society Williams expresses how Stanley is decision making partner in the group
