  • The Indus River civilization existed 5000 years ago in the modern countries of Pakistan and the northern India
  • Monhenjo-Daro
  • Rich families had courtyards. People without courtyards still will have flat roofs. People built new houses on top of their old houses.
  • Homes
  • They would stand on a shower tray while a bucket of water would be poured on them. Dirty water flowed out of the houses through pipes into a drain in the street. Their bathrooms where buckets outside.
  • Toilets, showers rooms, and sanitation
  • The Indus Valley was located along the Indus River that begins in the Himalayan mountains ends at the Arabian Sea.
  • The Indus people had workshops in their homes. Families used their roofs as a extra place and it was a cool place. The Indus people houses where made out of cooked bricks.
  • The toilet seats where made out of bricks, they flushed the toilet with a jar filled with water which made the water flow down the clay pipes.
