  • this battle marked the beginning of the american revolution
  • the minutemen were about to leave until an unknown shot was fired. one british soldier was wounded and many of the minutemen died

  • the battle of long island happened during August 1776. it was a demoralizing loss for the Americans and it forced them to abandon New York.
