  • The Old Man and the narrator live together. The narrator has a mental illness that he thinks makes his senses sharper.
  • Climax
  • The narrator doesn't like the Old Mans eye and makes a plan to kill him so he doesn't have to see his eye.
  • Falling Action
  • The narrator goes into the Old Mans bedroom for seven straight nights. The eighth night the narrator startled the Old Man while he was seeping and woke him up. The Old Man heard someone at his door and both the Old Man and the narrator stayed still for for a hour.
  • Resolution
  • While they were waiting the narrator heard the Old Mans heart and started getting angry. The narrator had looked at the Old Mans eye and finally lost it. The narrator had suffocated and killed the Old Man by his mattress.
  • After killing the Old Man the narrator cut him up into pieces and put him in the floor boards. Police came and looked through his house. After not finding anything the narrator invited them to stay and talk. The narrator had put a chair over the top of the floor boards where the old mans body was and sat there.
  • The narrator thought he heard the Old Mans heart and started losing his mind and it was just his own heart. The narrator had enough of the sound and he showed the officer the dead body under the floor boards.
