During the year 1348 a terrible disease called The Black Death came to Europe from China.
The Black Death germs came to Europe on fleas who lived on rats.
The rats got onto the ships.
When the rats died the fleas looked for a new home - a person. Medieval people didn't wash very often so they were fairly dirty and were prone to getting fleas.
If an infected flea bit you then you would get the plague.
Millions of people died in England. Towns and villages were deserted and houses were full of dead Black Death victims.
Where is everyone?
