  • We need more gold! 40 pounds is not enough! We are simply not taxing enough! Hmph
  • Why must we pay heavy taxes! I come to trade salt and I have to give my only gold to a worthless taxer...ugh taxes!
  • Taxer
  • Pay up..you know..give me gold!
  • The King of Ghana was a powerful king . He aquired great wealth through gold that was taxed through Ghana. All of the gold nuggets that were found went to the king, and only gold dust could go the people. This was not equitable to the people because Ghana took all of the gold nuggets, and he ruled. This is an example of monarchy which is a form of government in which there is one leader or ruler and that would be the King of Ghana.
  • I'll give two salt, and hopefully I will get two gold back
  • Ghana also had a military, and the military protected people . They kept borders secure, put down miner revolts, and maintained peace and order. Soilders were well payed and respected. Control of the Trans saharan trade made Ghana wealthy and the empire dominated the trade routes between North and West Africa.
  • Ooh..two salt! I will give two gold and it will be a deal! This will definitley help the economy.
  • This trader is crossing the Sahara Desert which was very challenging. This is a trader from the North and he is looking to trade salt for gold, and is planning on returning to North Africa to bring the goods to the merchants. This trader has to pass Ghana and pay heavy taxes which help make Ghana rich.
  • All of this gold and salt will definitley increase the supply and demand, and this will definitly rise the market economy!
  • The North Africans wanted gold. The Wangarans traded gold for salt with the merchants but it was a silent barter which means that it could be used for many different languages.
  • The merchants would not see the Wangarans because when they heard drums they would trade and it was an advantage to the Wangarans so they could keep their gold mines secret
  • Many people wanted to trade salt and gold for many other items, so if there was a lot of salt and gold, more people would want it, and would trade more for it.
