Kevin is a 27 year old man who lives a healthy lifestyle. After his Sunday run, he decides to have a cheat day.
He decides to stop and get a chocolate milkshake with whip cream and lots of sprinkles.
Half an hour later, Kwvin's pancreas notices a spike in his sugar levels and sends a message to the brain.
Using the afferent pathway, his brain receives the stimulus from the pancreas and decides how to respond, then sends it's response to the effector: the pancreas.
When the response from the brain travels through the efferent pathway, the pancreas acts by releasing insulin into Kevin's blood stream.
The insulin is released from the pancreas and helps stabilize the sugar in the blood and Kevin returns to normal.
