  • David Lloyd George's Coalition
  • With all our different view points combined, we will be even smarter than before!
  • In December of 1916, with the help of the Conservative coalition government and over half of the Liberals, he replaced H.H. Asquith as the Prime Minister of Britain.
  • The Liberals
  • After a long debate with Asquith over the morality of Lloyd George's new idea, in 1916 the right to choose to fight was taken away, young men now had to fight.
  • The Conservatives
  • Lloyd George increased the government with the coalition, the new inner War Cabinet now had 5 Conservatives, 2 Labours and himself as a Liberal.
  • Labour
  • They were damaged by the extension of the power an affront to Liberal values, the impact of GLG's premiership, effects on the electoral reform, loss f active supporters at grass root levels and personal disputes between leaders.
  • They gained from inclusion from Asquith and DLG's governments, constant support to the war wins patriotic vote, 1918 electoral reform, war experience from younger candidates and attention paid to organising parties.
  • They had initial divisions between pro-war and peace elements, party gains from inclusion in both governments, branching with DLG increased status, adoption of constitution adds to the parties stability and the 1918 electoral form helps treble its supporters.
