The Sack of Lawrence - A group of armed proslavery activists invaded Lawrence, a town founded by anti-slavery men to help ensure that Kansas would become a "free state", burned the anti-slavery headquarters and robbed many homes.
John Brown, an abolitionist, heard about the news about the attack in Lawrence, and mistaken that the proslavery group killed 5 people. He was enraged.
John Brown and his followers seeked for revenge on the proslavery posse.
GET UP!!! WAKE UP!!!
John Brown pulled five men from their beds on the proslavery settlement and killed them with knives.
And so, the Pottawatomie Massacre led to many other incidents throughout Kansas. This territory became another battlefield, and about 200 people were killed.
