Storyboard Text

  • Banquo and Fleance speak with MacBeth at MacBeth's castle about the witches, and other things. MacBeth pretends to not think about the witches, but internally he is scared about their predictions and the murder he is going to commit shortly.
  • I dreamt last night of the 3 weird sisters.
  • I think not of them.
  • After Banquo and Fleance leave, MacBeth thinks aloud to himself about the murder of King Duncan that he is committed to performing. He is emotionally distraught, but in the end is resolved to kill King Duncan.
  • I go, and it is done: the bell invites me. Hear it not, Duncan, for it is a knell that summons thee to heaven, or to hell.
  • After killing Duncan, MacBeth talks with Lady MacBeth about what he has done. Lady MacBeth goes back to the crime scene to frame the guards for the murder. MacBeth crazily talks to himself, and knocks are heard at the door. A Porter answers the door, and lets Macduff and Lennox in.
  • I'm afraid to think what I have done.
  • Give me the daggers...I'll gild the faces of the grooms withal, for it must seem their guilt.
  • As Macduff walks around the castle, he finds that Duncan has been murdered. Lady MacBeth rushes in, as do Banquo, MacBeth, and Lennox. Malcom and Donalbain enter as well, and are shocked about their father's death.
  • Suspicions rise concerning the death of Duncan. Macduff is especially suspicious, and MacBeth pretends to be upset. Lady MacBeth faints, while Malcolm and Donalbain decide they are not safe and resolve to flee.
  • Later on, Ross, Macduff, and an old man discuss the odd events that have occurred over the last few days. Macduff announces MacBeth is being made king at Scone, and predicts that either the chamberlains or Duncan's son's committed the murder (since they fled). Ross leaves to go see MacBeth's crowning, and Macduff goes home to end the scene.
