  • Tell Tale Heart Edgar Allen Poe
  • "True! Nervous. I was nervous then and I am nervous now."
  • The story starts out by having the narrator express his mood from first point of view.
  • "He had the eye of a bird. It was a cold, light-blue eye a horrible eye. I feared it."
  • Mentioning the vulture's eye, shows how much the eye vexed him.
  • This foreshadows the narrator intensions with the old man and also shows how shrewd he is.
  • "For one long week, I was very kind to the old man. But every night, at midnight, I opened his door slowly, carefully."
  • "The old man must die!...The old man was dead."
  • We reach the climax of the story when the narrator murders the old man.
  • The narrator confessed his crime to the policemen once he couldn't handle his guilt anymore.
  • "Stop" I cried. "Enough! Enough! Pull up the boards! Below the floor! Here! Here!
