Siddattha was born in the Lumbini gardens and grew up in luxory, protected from anything that could upset him
Siddattha married and had a son when he was 19, it seemed like he had a perfect life but Siddattha wasn't happy. He wanted to see the world outside the palace.
Siddattha left the palace a number of times with his chariot driver Channa. They rode past an old man, a sick woman, and a dead body. Siddattha didn't understand why people had to suffer and wanted to find answers.
At the age of 29, Siddattha decided that he had to live a simple life in order to search meaning and truth. One night he left the palace for good. He cut off his hair and gave away his riches.
One day he sat under a Bodhi tree to meditate until he had the answers to his questions. He got deeper in meditation until finally he became enlightened. He was awake to the truth of the world. He had become the Buddah.
