Hi Im Patrick, this is my son connor, i was a potato farmer in Ireland during the potato famine. in 1851, things were too difficult. We decided we would move to america for a better life.
After a long wait, terrible conditions, hunger, disease, tiredness, we finally arrived to new york, we all stopped and stared at the statue of liberty as it greeted us. Other kind Irishmen offered to help us find a place to stay for really cheap.

After a while, us Irish were well assimilated. we were part of the culture, some of our traditions were even celebrated in Boston. Irsih immigrants became eligible to vote. Others began to run for political positions, irish americans were now seen as equals Which helped improve our wages, conditions, and the way we were treated .
