Storyboard Text

  • Cadmus angered Apollo by killing the god's favorite snake. Cadmus's descendants would be cursed. If Laius, king of Thebes, had a son with Jocasta, the son would kill his father and marry his mother.
  • I curse all your descendants!
  • Laius and Jocasta have a son, so Laius pieces his feet together. He gets a servant to take Oedipus and leave him to die. The servant thought gives Oedipus to a shepherd, and the shepherd give Oedipus to King Polybus and Queen Merope.
  • Kill that baby!
  • We will take the baby, and his name will be Oedipus.
  • Later, Oedipus finds out that his fate is that he will kill his father and marry his mother. Oedipus did not want to hurt King Polybus and Queen Merope, so he leaves.
  • You will kill your father and marry your mother.
  • NOOOO!
  • Oedipus encounters a chariot, and he ends up killing the rider and charioteer. Little does he know he just killed his father.
  • Oedipus ends up in Thebes, and a Sphinx is terrorizing the people. The people find out Laius has been murdered, but they were too concerned with the Sphinx. They come up with whoever can solve the Sphinx's riddle then they can have Jocasta's hand in marriage.
  • Solve my riddle
  • Oedipus solves the riddle, and the Sphinx dies. Oedipus and Jocasta get married. Later, Oedipus says he will find and bring to justice the murder who killed Laius.
  • The answer is a man.
