Hi There! My name is Dorothy Vieaux. I'm French Canadian and the future great-grandmother of Grace Fardig.
My family came to the United States in the early 1900's. We lived in Michigan in the 1920's. I was 6 years old when the United States fell into the "Great Depression".
Food wasn't really the issue. I didn't complain that often, but we had to be frugal with our spending.
This is where we lived... a farmhouse in Sheboygan, Michigan. I had 8 brothers and sisters. During childbirth of one of my siblings, the doctor traveled by horse and carriage but couldn't get to my mother in time and my sister died.
Duane and I were married, Feb. 23, 1946 and then we moved to California.
We came to California because Duane had a job waiting for him with the military. We had three daughters, the oldest of which is Grace's maternal grandmother, Diane.
