Battle of Monmouth

1.The Battle of Monmouth had two memorable people that lead the colonists; George Washington and Patriot General Charles Lee. Although Washington had hired Lee to be the general and be a good leader, Charles called for a retreat when George Washington wanted to continue to fight.
2.This battle took place on June 27-28, 1778. The battle started when George Washington saw the opportunity to trap the British on the way to New York because General Clinton was headed to New York as well, with a 15,000 wagon train that carried lots of bounty that the colonists could benefit from.
3.Every man continued to fight until they were exhausted. George Washington planned on continuing the fight in the morning...
4 ...But the british slipped away in the night and went to New York
