Storyboard Text

  • Exposition
  • Conflict
  • Rising action
  • Someone's at the door!
  • Mr. and Mrs. White live in rural England. They have a son named Herbert. Morris arrives at their house and introduces the monkey's paw to the Whites. He tells them about the wishes that come with it. He warns them about the consequences that come along.
  • Climax
  • The conflict is whether to wish or not to wish. They know Morris does not want them to wish, but it seems like a good idea. This decision can change the White's lives forever.
  • Falling action
  • Mr. White grabs the paw from the fire, and decides to wish on it. Testing it, he wishes for two-hundred pounds. After some jokes, the family goes to bed. The following morning, Herbert goes to work. While he is there, a stranger comes to the family. Mrs. White assumes something happened to Herbert.
  • Resolution
  • The Stranger claims as bad news. He tells the family that Herbert has been caught in the machinery. As the reward to his death, they got two-hundred pounds, coincidentally.
  • Even though the wishes came to a halt, they decide to wish for Herbert back. They hear a knock at the door, and Mr. White tries to stop her, but Mrs. White wants to see her son.
  • Mr. and Mrs. White go outside to see an empty road. We can only assume that Herbert was at the door.
