Character .vs. Self
In this conflict Salva has trouble crossing the river with his uncle and the rest of the Dinka tribe. This is character vs nature conflict because, the character is facing the obstacle of getting through nature, to get to his goal of getting to Ethiopia.
Salva and some of the Dinka tribe had stayed in a women's barn while hiding from the war. The tribe had left Salva, and he was to find his way on his own until the woman at the home let him stay. He stayed until the woman told him that she had to go. Character vs Character is shown bythe conflict being between the two characters.
Salva is quite scared because most of the group is in front of him. He does not only have to catch up to them, but prove he is worthy to stay in the group. Salva has to overcome the sadness of the death of his friend Marial and his uncle. He realizes that he is on his own and has to face the soldiers and other obstacles on his own. The Character vs Self in this situation is that Salva has to overcome himself to concur his fear of him on his own.
