But that was not working so they took away the Articles of Confederation and created the New Jersey plan that favored equal representation in congress and the Virginia plan that favored representation based population.
New Jersey Plan
The Great Compromise was also made when the senate has equal representation and along with the “Three-Fifths”Compromise which counted every 3 slaves out of the five was counted as one.
Characteristics of the new government are separation of powers and checks and balances. Separation of Power created three branches of legislative, executive and judicial and each branch had its own job. Checks and balances made sure that one branch does not dominate over the other.
The Bill of Rights is not needed.
In this time there was Federalists which were people that thought the bill of rights was not needed and they thought creating a list of rights might be a bad idea and did not want certain rights to be ignored.
We support the Bill of Rights
There was a group of Anti-Federalists which thought listing the rights would help protect against the powerful central government taking away the freedoms and fought a revolution to preserve and supported the bill of rights.
