  • HI! I'm James Madison... I am the U.S's 4th President!

  • Phase 1- Battle in The Great Lakes
  • Oh no! I have been killed!
  • Lake Eerie
  • John Madison wanted there to be a war, and he would make it happen. The war was called The War Of 1812. He spoke out to the Congress to make the war happen because Congress can change/ make laws AND declare war.
  • Phase 2- Francis Scott Key and the Bombardment of Ford McHenry
  • The British starts capturing and forcing American sailors and merchants to join the British Navy. This was a disruption of American foreign trade. The British also allied with the Native Americans by supplying them with weapons. They attacked the settlers in the Northwest territory, with their leader Tecumseh.
  • Phase 3- Andrew Jackson as a War Hero and the Battle of New Orleans

  • From 1812-1814, Oliver Hazard Perry took command of the Navy at Lake Eerie. On October 5th, 1813, Harrison defeated them. Tecumseh's death ende the Indian Resistance.

  • Britain went to Washington DC and destroyed the city, white house, and capital. Then, the British shot cannons at Fort McHenry, but over 13,000 men kept the fort from being taken. When the flag was still up in the morning, Francis Key Scott wrote the Star Spangled Banner.
  • There were only 7,000 in the US militia and 7,500 British troops. In the end, we only came out to have 71 casualties, while Britain had over 2,000.

  • Effect 1- American industry and manufacturing grows as they were forced to produce their own goods. Effect 2- Ohio River Valley was opened for Midwest expansion because no Native American Resistance Effect 3- America gains power, prestige, and respect from the whole world. Effect 4- Citizens earned the sense of nationalism/ pride. Effect 5- Federalists in New England met secretly (Harford Convention) and considered secession. This act looked unpatriotic and caused demise to the Federalist party.
