  • Now that my father has died I must inherit the throne.
  • Bloody Sunday
  • We are not being treated fairly! We demand more freedom and better working conditions.
  • Bolshevik Revolution
  • Peace, Land, and Bread
  • Nicholas ll inherits the throne after his father czar Alexander lll passes. Nicholas ll become czar in 1894. He had resulted in very little experience in government. He continues to follow in harsh measures. The people are certainly not happy.
  • Civil War
  • We will all unite to defeat you.
  • Many workers and citizens had obtained unfair wages and harsh working conditions. The people were fed up and decided to say something about it. Over 200,000 workers protest at the Winter Palace in St.Petersburg for more freedom and an elected national legislature. Soilders had killed hundreds of people in the rowdy crowds. This event caused Russia to have lots of violence.
  • Lenin Restores Order
  • This country has been through so much! I must do something immediately to help.
  • The provisional government is extinct and conqured by the red guards. Lenin steps in and proceeds in full power. He grants the peasents to use of farmland and gives factory businesses management. His slogan was " peace, land, bread". In March 1918 the Treaty of Brest-litovsk was endorsed which the conclusion of giving up a component of territory induced displeasure , irritation,and humiliation to the Russians.
  • Stalin
  • The white army comes at war with the red army. The white army is divided into people with different views on the goverment. The only thing that united them was defeating the Bolsheviks. Leon Trotsky led the Red army from 1918-1920. The Civil War was the most deadly in time. It killed 14 million Russians through fighting, hunger, and worldwide flu. The Red Army won and proved they could seize and maintain power both at the same time.
  • Do not get ahead of yourself we will prove to you we can maintain and seize power.
  • The economy was a disaster but Lenin had a plan. He made a new Idea of capitalism named NEP (New Economic Policy). This gave permission to peasants to sell surplus crops instead of handing them to the government. Small business, factories, and farms could be ran privately . Forgein investment was also encouraged. The policies made some peace after the misery of the war. The country was slowly recovering.
  • In 1922 Lenin suffers a stroke and survives but the event lead to an opposition between Leon Trotsky and Stalin. Stalin meant "man of steel". Lenin believed Stalin was a dangerous man. Lenin leaves a note saying Stalin is being handed a huge responsibility. He is no longer a threat once Lenin is dead. After Lenin dies Stalin was in charge of the communist party and had all absolute power known as a dictator.
  • I am Stalin and now that Lenin has died I will rule as dictator!
