  • Hi! I'm Grace and this is my friend Kaiyah. We will both be talking about Rosa Parks!
  • Hi!
  • This cupcake is so good!
  • Rosa Parks wasn't the first civil rights activist, but she was one of the best and most famous.
  • Oh my gosh, my stomach hurts. I had way to many cupcakes.
  • Hmph, It's raining. Let's go to my house, shall we?
  • Ok let's continue. Rosa Parks was born February 4, 1913 as Rosa Louise McCauley Parks in Tuskegee,  Alabama and died October 24, 2005 in Detroit, Michigan.
  • Her inspiration was 15 -year-old Claudette Colvin, who was also an activist. Parks is famous for refusing to give up her seat on a bus to a white male.
  • November
  • Because she broke the segregated bus rules, she was thrown into jail, thus starting the 381-day Montgomery Bus Boycott. After the state saw what the black people were doing, they uplifted the segregated bus laws and freed Rosa Parks.
  • She has won many awards such as the Presidential Medal of Freedom,  Congressional Gold Medal, Golden Plate Award, Spingarn Medal, and NAACP Image Award.
  • That concludes our session. Have a good day, bye!
