Now to many, this story may seem silly or stupid. That the loss of a pet is inevitable and easy to move on from. Even though it was just a cat, she was family.
Love and Loss A Memoir by Grace Kreisher
She started getting ill around the holidays, one of her eyes swelled shut, and she began to look at me as though she didn’t know me.
Under the Christmas tree she lay, curled in a ball, large snowflakes falling outside my house.
Her eyes showed emptiness, as if the bond we had made since I was a baby had never existed.
She stopped eating sometime after New Years. I tried different types of soft foods and flavors that I thought might seem appealing to her. Nothing worked.
During the snowstorm Nemo of 2013, she slowly suffered while my family tried to comfort her and one another from the impending tragedy we knew was coming.
