Storyboard Text

  • Hey there! My name is Barb. This is the Verona Women's crisis center. Is there something I can help you with?
  • I'm not sure... I don't even think I should be here.
  • You are welcome to come sit with me if you're comfortable with that. You can stay as long as you like.
  • I guess that would be ok...
  • Why don't you tell me about yourself?
  • Um, my name is Kat. I'm married and have a sister. No kids. My father is still around, but not my mom.
  • How is your relationship with your family?
  • It's... complicated.
  • ........
  • Is that what brought you here today?
  • Why don't you start from the beginning?
  • Well I guess it all started when...
  • Kat, why can't you be more like your sister Bianca?
  • She has so many opportunities, but you're holding her back!
  • It's time you get your act together. Change your attitude and settle down. No one likes an obstinate woman.
  • Well you better figure it out, because if Bianca is getting married, you can't stay here.
  • I'm not going to change who I am for a man!
  • That sounds rough. How did you handle it?
  • Not well, I'm afraid... I took out my anger on my sister.
  • And then came my engagement... I didn't know it at the time, but--
  • Hey Petruchio, did you hear that Baptista Minola is trying to get Kat out of the house so Bianca can finally get married?
  • I did. And Kat's dowry is huge. She might be worth the trouble...
  • I heard she's pretty awful though. Very opinionated and strong-willed.
  • Not after I'm done with her. I know exactly how to deal with women like that.
  • What are you going to do?
  • I'm going to give her a taste of her own medicine, and be twice as bad as she is. She won't be able to deal with it for long.
  • ...Then he came to my home and told my father that I had thrown myself at him, but I hadn't.
  • My father was so happy that somebody wanted... me... that he agreed to marry me off.
  • I didn't feel like I had a choice. I had nowhere else to go. And Petruchio seemed so sweet before the wedding.
  • Like I was... nothing.
  • How did being treated like a piece of property make you feel?
  • It used to be worse...
  • What are things like for you at home?
  • Well, your car should have been maintained better.
  • How could you leave me on the side of the road? I saw you drive by!
  • I'm really hungry...
  • The food was overcooked. You can eat tomorrow.
  • THAT'S what you're wearing?...
  • Don't you know how to make a bed the right way? Do it again.
  • He kept me so tired and hungry, until I just couldn't bring myself to argue anymore.
  • Oh Kat... So that's why you've come here today?
  • It got to the point where I agreed with him just to make it stop. Black was white, up was down...
  • ...I just don't know what do anymore. I just know I can't live like this.
  • And nor should you have to. You were given the option of living between obedience or exasperation. Neither of which is a good way to live.
  • Coming here was a good first step, but you have a very important decision to make Kat. Are you ready to leave your situation?
