Exposition: The characters introduced are Rainsford and Whitney. They are sailing through the Carribean Sea in the pitch black, eerie night.
Conflict: " No General, I will not hunt"(Connell 73).
Rising Action: "Rainsford held his breath. The generals eyes had left the ground and were traveling up the tree inch by inch. Rainsford froze there"(Connell 76). "...the dead tree delicately adjusted to rest on the cut living one, crashed down and struck the general... on the shoulder as it fell" (Connell 77). "he heard the sharp crackle of the breaking branches as the cover of the pit gave way. He heard the sharp scream of pain as the stakes found their mark" (Connell 78).
Climax: "Rainsford forced himself toward the gap. Twenty feet below him the sea rumbled and hissed. He hesitated"(Connell 80).
"Should I Jump?"
Falling action: " Across a cove he could see the gloomy grey stone of the chateau...Then he reached far out into the sea" (Connell 80)
" Here I Go!"
Resolution: "The General sucked in his breath and smiled,"I congragulate you," he said. " You have won the game" (Connell81)
