  • Segment 25
  • Segment 27
  • Segments 28 and 29
  • In his last hope of ever seeing Zero again, he steals the water truck from Mr.Sir, but crashes in into a hole in a couple of minutes after. He then dashes out towards the direction of "Gods Thumb" to try and find Zero. This contributes to the theme because it shows he is  not giving up hope. For example, he's trusting in the hope of God's Thumb being real, and about Zero still being alive.
  • Segment 30
  • Stanley wanders throughout the dried up lake for a while before finding Zero.  His persistence of not giving up payed off, and he probably saved his friend Zero's life. His  Zero absolutely refuses to go back to camp, no matter how hard Stanley tries to convince him. Stanley continues not to lose hope and decides to venture to a mountain that he thinks one of his ancestors called gods thumb, and that it has some sort of water or food at the top. This contributes to the theme of not giving up because its showing the reward of not giving up, such as Zero still being alive. It also tributes to the theme because he's also not giving up hope on the mountain he calls "Big Thumb".
  • Segment 36
  • Zero keeps having attacks, and Stanley is worried. He begins to lose hope. He even says while walking to the Big thumb "It was like chasing the moon. And if they ever reached it, he realized, then they’d still have to climb it. This shows that he is almost losing hope. He narrates their journey as they begin up the big thumb.  While up their he realizes something important. Their wasn't any weeds out on on the lake, but there is here. Their is also more bugs here. He realizes that there must be water nearby and his risk of believing in the Big thumb is payed off. This obviously contributes to the theme because it shows him nearly giving up but then rewards him for not doing so by giving him what he and Zero need to survive.
  • Segment 40
  • In segment 30, Stanley scales the cliff with unconscious Zero. He begins to lose hope scaling it as he begins to believe the Big Thumb might not have water inside it. He begins to despair that the bugs and weeds came only from the rainstorm a few days ago.  But he then slips and falls into a muddy ditch. He realizes that you need water to make mud so he follows the mud. Where it seems it be the muddiest he digs a hole and finds an onions and water. This contributes to my theme because it shows he was about to give up, but he didn't and was seemingly rewarded for it.
  • Stanley decides to follow his last hope and go to where he found the lipstick container.  By following his last hope and not giving up, he finds a treasure chest. This contributes to the theme because he followed his hopes and didn't give up and he got his ancestors treasure. This shows that if you follow your hopes and don't give up you can achieve and get many things.
  • In Segment 40 we learn that Stanley dad has finally created a product. The product has created a ton of money. "Stanley’s father was smart and had a lot of perseverance." He kept trying to create a way to recycle sneakers, but created a way to eliminate foot odor.
