Storyboard Text

  • After the First Punic War, in which Carthage lost, there was a stir up about the border of the Ebro River.
  • Since Carthage lost the First Punic War, the economy starts to fail and general Hamilcar Barca can't afford to pay his soldiers.
  • Son, promise me that you, for the rest of your days, will hate Rome.
  • Sure father!
  • Because of the war lost and economy failure, Hamilcar hated Rome and made his son, Hannibal Barca, take an oath that he would too before Hamilcar's death.
  • ... no comment
  • But, it's winter...
  • He's crazy - it's official
  • Okay men, we're in our second war against Rome and I made a promise to my father that I would hate Rome for the rest of my life so to defeat the Romans we're going over the Alps!
  • Following Hannibal, the soldiers of Carthage go through the Alps and Hannibal gives his men time to rest, eat, or whatever they needed.
  • I'm hungry.
  • Okay! We'll stop once we get to the top of this mountain.
  • Once the Romans and Carthage collide, a battle starts. Because of Carthage's knowledge of elephants, they were able to defeat the Romans. However, Rome put up a good fight for their first time against elephants.
  • Unfortunately for Carthage though, they lost the Second Punic War and lost all their land in Spain because Hannibal didn't fully defeat Rome and instead decided to do a peace treaty which Rome eventually broke and defeated Carthage.
