Dictators were political leaders who had absolute power. Many of the dictators are considered the worst people in history. People supported them because they promised to fix their country's problems.
Hitler demanded land that was not Germany's. The nations were trying to prevent war but they couldn't. They did not agree so they started to declare war on each other. People started leaving home to go to war in 1939.
The U.S. did not enter the war until after the Japanese bombed at Pearl Harbor. They did not want to get involved because they wanted to mind their own business. Roosevelt made a speech and they entered in 1941.
Jewish people were put in internment camps because Hitler blamed them for Germany's problems. Many were murdered by Nazis and they were forced to work. Japanese Americans were also relocated and put in internment camps because America was afraid that they might be spies.
Women would work in factories and they would build weapons. The U.S. government allowed both African Americans and women to fly aircrafts. The war was giving many people an opportunity to get jobs.
The U.S. bombed Hiroshima and Nagasaki and that ended the war. The war lasted for six years. Germany payed for the reparations. It affected so many innocent people.
